Davis Cup Finals 2023 Recap
In the 2023 Davis Cup final, Italy emerged as champions after a series of impressive victories. They defeated the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, overcame Novak Djokovic’s Serbia in the semifinals, and ultimately triumphed over Australia in the final.
Jannik Sinner, who has recently been cleared of doping accusations, was the star of the campaign. He won all three of his singles matches and played a key role in two decisive doubles victories alongside Lorenzo Sonego.
2024 Davis Cup Group Stage
The 2024 group stage was a fierce competition, with 16 teams battling for the eight spots available in the finals. To reach this stage, teams first had to compete in a qualification round held in February 2024.
Teams ranked from 3rd to 16th in the 2023 finals (except two invited teams) faced opponents from World Group I.

Eight Spots in the Finals
In addition to these 12 teams, Italy (2023 champions) and Australia (2023 finalists) automatically qualified for the finals. Two wild-card entries, Great Britain and Spain, rounded out the field of 16.
The group stage saw the teams divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout finals.
Now, after a week of intense competition, the eight teams moving forward to the 2024 Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, Spain, from November 19-24, are:
Canada (2022 champions)
Italy (2023 champions)
Australia (2022 and 2023 finalists)
Argentina
Germany
Netherlands
Spain
United States
The teams will face off on hard courts in a single-elimination format. The quarterfinal matchups will look like this:
Italy vs. Argentina
USA vs. Australia
Canada vs. Germany
Spain vs. Netherlands
